The new shooter from Bethesda will be here even sooner than expected.

In a rather startling video game development, Brink will soon be getting the opposite of a delay. Bethesda has announced that the shooter will be out one week earlier than originally expected, hitting shelves in North America on May 10

th

(up from the 17

th

) and Europe on May 13

th

(up from the 20

th

).

“Production wrapped on Brink earlier than we planned and we didn’t see any reason to keep gamers from getting their hands on this highly anticipated game as soon as it was ready,” said Bethesda Marketing VP Pete Hines. “It’s apparent from the tremendous reaction so far that people are eager to jump online and play, and if we can make that happen earlier – we’re going to.”

Of course, the move does have the added benefit of distancing Brink from Rockstar’s L.A. Noire, but I’m not one to complain when a game gets released ahead of schedule. Brink is being developed by Splash Damage and will be available for the Xbox 360, the PC, and the PS3.
