Shadow Man, the cult classic action game originally released for the Nintendo 64, will be remastered and re-released next year for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Nightdive Studios, in partnership with Valiant Entertainment, announced Shadow Man: Remastered earlier today for all consoles as well as Steam and GOG. The remaster will feature 4K resolution; improved shadow mapping, per-pixel lighting, and anti-aliasing; and the restoration of cut content from the original game, among other enhancements. Shadow Man is being updated using Nightdive’s proprietary KEX engine, which has been used to restore classic video games such as System Shock: Enhanced Edition, Turok, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, Blood: Fresh Supply, and Forsaken Remastered.

“Our goal with the remaster is to give today’s generation of gamers all the features that they expect from a modern title while preserving the qualities that made Valiant’s iconic character and the original Shadow Man game such memorable classics to begin with,” stated Nightdive Studios CEO Stepehn Kick in a press release.

Valiant Entertainment chairman and CEO Dan Mintz added, “As part of our continued growth into the video game industry, we’re happy to bring Valiant fans this immensely popular Shadow Man character as the next title we release. Using this platform allows the Valiant fans to experience and explore the universe creatively.”

Shadow Man: Remastered will be released sometime next year for PC (via Steam and GOG), PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you need your fix of Shadow Man before then and there’s no specially marked graves around to provide, a new comic book series for Shadow Man will debut this year. Crafted by Cullen Bunn and artist Jon Davis-Hunt, Shadowman #1 will be available on May 20th. We’ll let you know when more information is revealed, and until then, stay safe out there.
