A new report surrounding Naughty Dog has surfaced, and it reportedly confirms they’re working on a new Uncharted title and that Nathan Drake will return.
It has been over 10 years since Nathan Drake’s last adventure in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. In that time, rampant fan speculation has gone from hot to cold, then hot again, regarding a potential continuation of the series that brought Naughty Dog to the shooting genre, with fans referring to the unannounced and unconfirmed speculation as simply Uncharted 5. Today, a new report from MP1st has surfaced, reigniting the flames around a potential new title in the series, and it suggests Nathan Drake will be in the picture.

The report says the next Uncharted game (reported as not a remake of any kind) is in active development at Naughty Dog. The game will apparently feature Nathan Drake in some capacity. Still, it’s unclear if he’s the protagonist, a cameo, or even a potential mentor-like figure like Sully from previous entries.
The project is reportedly being spearheaded by Shaun Escayg, who previously helmed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, released as a standalone expansion to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Fans have been hoping for a fifth mainline title for years, and a recent IGN report highlighted Escayg’s latest social media posts from Trinidad, which some fans have interpreted as blatant teasers.
On Reddit, fans have similarly reacted with what can effectively be summed up as, “Oh, come on!” MP1st’s report also noted that the new Uncharted game is expected to be Naughty Dog’s next release following Intergalactic. Neil Druckmann recently confirmed that there will be no new information on Intergalactic until 2027, while also referencing two The Last of Us projects.

If true, Naughty Dog has its work cut out for them. With two The Last of Us projects, a potential Uncharted 5, and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in the works, the Naughty Dog faithful will be eating well for the coming years.
