Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann capped off this year’s “The Last of Us Day” by giving updates on the developer’s current projects, including new The Last of Us entries.
Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann is usually outspoken, and he did not disappoint during “The Last of Us Day.” The studio head concluded this year’s celebrations by giving updates on the developer’s current projects, which include teasing two new The Last of Us projects that “will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II.” Druckmann did this in an official blog post, and he did not mention whether the new projects are video games or something else. This is noteworthy considering that, technically, The Last of Us has already been greenlit for Season Three at HBO, and one of those two projects could be the live series continuation. It does fit the description after all.

So beyond “we can’t say much about them at this point,” Naughty Dog confirmed that The Last of Us will be continuing beyond the narrative of the second entry. On the other hand, Druckmann also gave a small update on the studio’s next big project: Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. He said, “The team is heads down on what is shaping up to be Naughty Dog’s most ambitious game yet,” but laments that the title needs more work. Ultimately, fans will not hear anything regarding the Intergalactic project until at least 2027.

Prolific actor Troy Baker (who is also cast in Intergalactic) also spilled some of the beans during an appearance at Ottawa Comiccon in Ontario, Canada, earlier this month. In the hour-long session, Baker said, “You are not ready. You are not ready. It’s so good.” Naughty Dog fans waiting for any news will be disappointed to learn that a longer wait is ahead, but Naughty Dog confirmed that things are in the works, so fans can rest easy with the notion that it’s not “if” but “when” these games will arrive.
