Mintrocket uncorked its final DLC pack for Dave the Diver: a Subnautica 2-themed expansion coming in early 2027!
As with all of the other Dave the Diver DLC released thus far, the Subnautica 2 collaboration will be completely free of charge to players who own the base game. Coming in early 2027, the free expansion will see players explore the new waters of Proteus (moving on from the original Subnautica location: The Crater), filled with unfamiliar creatures and valuable resources that will have Dave hard at work for the last time. A new trailer has been released today in celebration, and it can be seen below.
The upcoming Subnautica 2 Content Pack creates a confluence of mysterious waters unlike anything before it in Dave the Diver. Dave and Bancho the Chef will then travel interdimensionally to make discoveries, unlock strange and exotic recipes, and lend a hand to other friends. All while facing periodic confrontations with the Leviathan. Like the previous Like a Dragon crossover, Subnautica 2 will be a full narrative event.
Mintrocket Studio Director, Jaeho Hwang, said, “For our final DLC expansion, we wanted to create something that felt especially meaningful, and a Subnautica collaboration is what players have been asking us about for a long time,” adding, “Both games are set underwater, but Subnautica has such a distinct approach to underwater exploration, so working with the Subnautica 2 team gave us a chance to bring a new wave to Dave the Diver experience. We’re really excited for players to see what we’ve been working on, and we hope this collaboration gives them one more fresh and surprising adventure with Dave and his friends, old and new.”
It appears fan prayers have been answered with the latest expansion, as forums like Reddit have been ablaze with constant requests for a crossover between Dave the Diver and Subnautica since the former launched. With today’s announcement, fans don’t have to wait much longer.
