It appears the next indie darling, Guns of Eschaton (which doubles as the Wild West’s answer to soulslikes), is coming sooner than expected.

Publisher 4Divinity and developer Eschatology Entertainment today unleashed the announcement that Guns of Eschaton will launch on December 8, 2026 across PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X|S. What’s interesting is that all versions of the title will launch at the same time. Although the title’s initial play space was relegated to PC only (a demo is now available on Steam), the developers behind Eschatology Entertainment have announced that all three versions for the full release are arriving at once. 4Divinity has also launched a surprise release date trailer, and it can be seen below.

Soulslikes have been a genre defined by third-person action RPG gameplay, in which the player confronts near-impossible odds and dies repeatedly, while learning how to win in the meantime. Publisher 4Divinity and developer Eschatology Entertainment have rolled out the red carpet for a different species, namely, a new type of “hard title” that will challenge the player and deliver an apocalyptic world based on the American frontier (and it’s not Bethesda). This is a first-person title that demands excellence, and 4Divinity claims it delivers in turn. Welcome to Guns of Eschaton. Not only is Guns of Eschaton a soulslike FPS, but it’s also co-op.

Guns of Eschaton Key Features

Guns Of Eschaton, The Souls-like Cowboy Shooter, Is Launching Sooner Than You Think
  • Players will face off in high-stakes gunfights where preparation matters (like in the soulslikes) as much as aim. Use the Codex to find weaknesses and master precise timings alongside parries.
  • Create a playstyle of your own through deep character progression and building blocks on par with the soulslike genre.
  • Speaking of soulslike, familiar principles from the two deployed established genres (FPS and Souls) are rebuilt around one combat philosophy: Precision shooting. Instead of embracing a rhythm focus like Metal: Hellsinger, weapon mastery, enemy knowledge, resource management, timing, and build crafting are all things to consider.
  • Embrace jolly cooperation: Fans can experience the complete journey of Guns of Eschaton solo or alongside an ally in co-op, with full progression allowing players to tackle the challenges of the dystopia.

With all of that being said, we finally have a release date for Guns of Eschaton. It’s arriving on December 8, 2026, so fans can warm up their six-shooters until then.
