An Alone In The Dark Reboot Has Reportedly Leaked Prior To Official Announcement

Just ahead of a THQ Nordic showcase scheduled for 3 p.m. today, an Alone in the Dark reboot has reportedly leaked, complete with potential box art, synopsis & screenshots.

It goes without saying that every unconfirmed leak should be taken with a grain of salt, but at least for this one fans possibly won’t have a long wait time. Right before the THQ Nordic — who acquired the Alone in the Dark IP back in 2018 — showcase, news of a potential Alone in the Dark reboot has slipped out as reported on Resetera, with alleged information about the upcoming title yet to receive an official announcement.

The leaked post also has a synopsis for the reboot, and it is as follows:

Psychological horror and Southern Gothic meet in this revisit of the survival-horror classic Alone in the Dark This love letter to the cult game of the 90s will make you live a story as sinister as memorable through the eyes of one of the two protagonists.

As Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, explore the various environments, fight monsters, solve puzzles and discover the terrible truth about Derceto’s mansion… In the deep south of the United States during the 1920s, Emily Hartwood’s uncle disappeared. Accompanied by private detective Edward Carnby, she goes in search of him in the mansion of Derceto, a psychiatric asylum where prowls… Something. You will meet strange occupiers, nightmarish kingdoms, dangerous monsters, and lift the veil on an evil conspiracy. At the confluence between reality, mystery and madness, the adventure that awaits you may undermine your certainties. Who are you going to trust, what are you going to believe and what will you do next?‎

– Resetera

The last title in the series, Alone in the Dark: Illumination, released back in 2015 & starred the signature protagonist, Edward Carnby. Featuring an online only rendition of the cult classic horror game which was heavily criticized due to its connection required nature and deviation from what made the fan favourite series so enthralling.

The THQ Nordic showcase will start at 3 p.m. EST, and fans can flock over to YouTube to watch live. The runtime is set to be approximately 45 minutes in length so there could be exciting announcements coming from the developer.
