The Amazing Spider-Man 2 On Xbox One Is Here - 2014-04-29 14:20:28

Spidey-fans were in for a shock this morning as the Xbox One version of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actually came out on Xbox Live.

Despite the fact that Activision recently told Eurogamer that this specific version had been indefinitely postponed, it still raced its way to the finish line on time.

The original delay came as a surprise because the other versions (PS3, PS4, Wii U, PC, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS) were still set to release on time. Even more interesting is that there was no prior announcement that the digital version would be made available today, it just sort of came up on the screen for users.

Either way the Xbox One title is available now for $59.99 and so far no bugs have been reported, making it seem like a complete product.

Yet one question still remains, where is the physical copy?

According to IGN, GameStop and Amazon have listings for the physical version to come out in July, more than two months after today’s initial sale.

It’s also important to keep in mind that the other versions all came out physically today, making the Xbox One late to the party. The biggest problem is that this may hurt sales for Activision and Beenox but the overall sales won’t be available till much later in the year (after the Xbox One physical version has enough time on shelves).

While we here at CGM will keep an eye on the PlayStation 4 sales, it certainly puts a damper on the Xbox One release.
