Battlefield V Salutes WWII Female Soldiers

Battlefield V Salutes WWII Female Soldiers 2

The battlefield will never be the same for both the Battlefield V game itself and its female players. After the backlash that went as far as amounting to over 300,000 dislikes on YouTube after Battlefield V‘s trailer reveal, DICE fights back against misogyny.

Oskar Gabrielson from DICE went on Twitter to address the issue. “It’s been two days since the reveal of Battlefield V so I wanted to share some thoughts on the reactions so far. It sure seems we created a lot of excitement, and also some questions on a lot of different topics,” he said. “First, let me be clear about one thing. Player choice and female playable characters are here to stay,”

Gabrielson then addressed concerns of historical inaccuracy. He shed light on the fact that there were females in combat during the Second World War. “We want Battlefield V to represent all those who were a part of the greatest drama in human history, and give players choice to choose and customize the characters they play with,” he outlined.

Battlefield V displayed the commitment of DICE as a studio, that is doing everything they can to create inclusive and diverse games. Gabrielson wrote on Twitter that DICE is always setting out to push boundaries and deliver unexpected experiences. At the end of the day, DICE wants their games to be fun, and diversity and representation help curate that.

Gabrielson is looking forward to EA PLAY, where players and fans will be provided with hands-on gameplay. Meanwhile, he is thankful for the support he has received so far.
