Disney has revealed the first trailer for Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, the new original series set to stream on Disney+ starting December 29.
The Book of Boba Fett picks up right with the teaser ending of The Mandalorian Season 2, with Boba Fett taking over the palace of his former employer, Jabba the Hut. The trailer shows Bobba Fett and Fennec Shand trying to unite the underworld of Tatooine. As the enigmatic bounty hunter says “Jabba ruled with fear, I intend to rule with respect.” Not everything will go to plan, of course, as the trailer shows the duo going up against a wide array of different characters and enemies, from Trandoshan traders to what appears to be other bounty hunters. It certainly seems like Boba Fett is now the primary target for the underworld to take down.
Disney still hasn’t announced the episode count for The Book of Boba Fett, although it’s likely it’ll be somewhat similar to The Mandalorian, which has had eight episodes per season so far.
The Book of Boba Fett is the first in a string of new Star Wars series’ coming to Disney+ over the next few years. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series is also moving along in production and will feature Hayden Christensen returning in his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Christensen will also reprise his role in the planned Ahsoka Tano series, starring Rosario Dawson.
Rangers of the New Republic is another Mandalorian spinoff that will follow a squadron of New Republic soldiers as they travel the galaxy. The series was originally planned to feature Cara Dune, but after Gina Carano was fired from Disney, it’s likely the series has been rebooted a bit.
Other planned Disney+ series’ are Andor (focusing on Rogue One’s Cassian Andor), The Acolyte (taking place a century before The Phantom Menace), a Lando Calrissian series, A Droid Story, and of course The Mandalorian Season 3.
