While much of the world is sitting in lock-down, and events like Computex cancelled for the year, Tech companies continue to push out new exciting products, keeping with the cycles of releases we have grown to expect. To this end, Dell today announced a range of new products including a refresh of the XPS line, delivering stunning, new laptops that push the bar on Windows-based machines.
The new designs feel like a modern refresh of the classic range. The displays show even less bezel, the legacy ports are finally replaced by USB-C and they come baring Intel’s latest 10th Gen processors. If that were not enough, some models now give the options for an Nvidia based GeForce GTX 1650 TI Max-Q graphics solution, for when you want to game, or simply want your creative based software to run at its best.
On the XPS 15, the screen now offers a 15.6-inch display, with almost no bezels to be seen on any of the sides. The screen also now supports a 16:10 aspect ratio, similar to the XPS 13 released earlier this year. You also have more choices on resolution this time around, with the choices of a 4K (3840 x 2400) or the standard FHD (1920 x 1200), with all offering a top-mounted web camera for all the zoom calls you may be doing in the future. You can configure the XPS 15 with up to 64GB of RAM, 2TB of storage, and up to a Intel’s Core i9 10885H 45W chip.
Dell also changed up this ports this year, gone is the proprietary charger, offering instead two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, a USB-C 3.1 port, and full-size SD card reader. The XPS 15 is also thinner than ever, measuring only 18mm at the highest point. Dell is also promising more battery than ever before, boasting up to 25 hours on the FHD display option. The Dell XPS 15 will start shipping today, and will start at $1,299.99 USD.
If that were not enough, Dell also reintroduced the XPS 17, and after a 10-year hiatus, it is a welcome sight. The larger XPS offers up a thin, powerful option for people that demand the best out of their mobile computers. Offering up the same 16:10 aspect ratio we see on the XPS 13, the 17-inch model offers the same resolution seen on the smaller models: 4K (3840 x 2400) and FHD (1920 x 1200). The XPS can also be configured to offer for performance with up to a Intel’s latest 10th Gen Core i9 45W processors, 64GB of RAM, and 2TB of storage.
The XPS-17 can also be configured with a Nvidia’s GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q or the RTX 2060 to push as many polygons as you can manage in such a thin design. The XPS-17 also has a new thermal design that is said to improved airflow and offers a custom vapor chamber to keep the chips cool even when playing the most intensive games, or rendering that new Blender design. In terms of ports you will find four USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports and a full-size SD card reader. The XPS 17 will launch this summer and will start at $1,499.99 USD.
