Donald Glover, Marvel Television, and FX decided to cease production on the development of the Deadpool animated series project.
FX cited that “due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s ‘Deadpool’ animated series, FX will no longer be involved with the project.”
The Deadpool animated series was announced last May and was scheduled to have a 10-episode run. Glover was meant to create the show with his brother, Stephen Glover. Although the Deadpool series was supposed to debut this year, the show was not in active production and according to Variety, scripts were not believed to have been completed.
According to Variety, Glover may have had to leave Deadpool because of his busy schedule. On top of working on Atlanta with his brother Stephen, Glover will be co-starring in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Movie and voice acting Simba in Disney’s Lion King live-action adaptation. Last year he also co-starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
At this point, it is unclear whether Marvel will pursue the production of the Deadpool animated series. Deadpool fans can breathe a sigh of relief however as the second Deadpool movie will be releasing in theaters this May.
