DualShock 4 developed with the help of shooter developers

First-person shooter fans will be happy to know the PlayStation 4’s new DualShock controller benefited from heavy input by major shooter developers.

In an interview with IGN, Mark Cerny, system architect for the PS4, said they tested a large number of designs, and with the help of major FPS developers they were able to settle with the DualShock 4’s current look.

“We did indeed conclude that the two joysticks on the same level works perfectly well,” he said. “That did come out of our testing.”

Alan Kertz, the lead core gameplay designer for Battlefield 4, mentioned earlier this year that the new PS4 controller is “so much improved,” over its predecessor.
