New DualShock 4 Attachment Brings Two Reprogrammable Switches to Controller 1

A new peripheral by PlayStation adds two more buttons behind the Dualshock 4 controller.

Simply called the Dualshock 4 Back Button Attachment, the device plugs underneath the 3.5mm headphone jack and charging port. Two extended buttons rest on the controller’s rear for instant access.

Its announcement came with a short trailer, showing the new back buttons can be programmed with any of the controller’s 16 functions and triggers.

A round OLED screen between the buttons also show real-time configurations with up to three player profiles. Pushing the screen also lets you toggle and reassign buttons quickly.

According to PlayStation Global Marketing Manager Ike Nnoli, the back buttons are “highly tactile” while it lets players access their favourite ones faster during competitions.

“This new attachment elevates your gameplay by delivering more versatility and performance, while maintaining the comfort and feel of the DualShock 4 wireless controller you’ve come to love,” Nnoli writes.
