It’s easy to say that Elden Ring and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are two of the biggest games of the year, and now one enterprising fan has brought the two together brilliantly crafted mod.
Combining Pokémon and Elden Ring may initially seem ludicrous, but the mod from Twitter user @Arestame_Arkeid looks like an absolute blast. We see both the Tarnished and Melina decked out in colourful trainer outfits before the Tarnished is hilariously murdered by a Meowscarada.
The mod seemingly replaces both enemies in the world as well as summons with iconic Pokémon. Some shots show hordes of Quaxly wandering around, while another shows a Pokémon Center sitting atop the massive Walking Mausoleum. It should come as no surprise that your horse, Torrent, is also replaced with Koraidon.
The colourful designs of the Pokémon directly clash with the bleak world of The Lands Between, but that’s honestly what makes this mod look so appealing. Unfortunately, Arestame hasn’t indicated how this mod was possible or if they ever intend to release it publicly.
At the same time, even if Elden Ring x Pokémon saw an official release, Nintendo is absolutely notorious for cracking down on any kind of fan project or mod that features its IP. While it’s certainly a fun idea, don’t get your hopes up about the mod ever actually being playable.
Both Elden Ring and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have left a sizable impact on the industry this year. Elden Ring, of course, nabbed the Game of the Year Award at The Game Awards and has quickly become FromSoftware’s best-selling game ever, with over 17.5 million copies shipped to date.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet haven’t fared as well critically due to poor performance and a ton of bugs at launch. However, that hasn’t stopped the new games from becoming the fastest-selling Pokémon titles in Nintendo’s history, selling over 10 million copies in just three days.
Elden Ring is currently available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
