New Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis Trailer Teases Sephiroth's Origins

The newest mobile title from Square Enix, Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is inching closer to release, and to stoke the flames of hype, a new teaser has been dropped today showcasing a younger Sephiroth.

Back in August, fans were treated to the release date of Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, a mobile spin-off of arguably the most popular Final Fantasy to hit the market. As the title continues its march toward release, Square Enix has released another trailer for fans to view. This time the trailer features the arch-villain of FFVII, Sephiroth in a younger form than fans are accustomed to. The trailer can be seen below.

The caption “Discover the Never-Before Told Story of a Young Hero” is shown before a shorter-haired version of Sephiroth, as the iconic imagery from the burning of Nibelheim is flickered on the screen back and forth, to show the evolution of the villain to what fans know of him in Final Fantasy VII today. Ever Crisis‘ art style takes direct inspiration from the original’s blocky and polygonal design and hearkens fans back to 1997 through a storyline that takes place throughout the entirety of the Final Fantasy VII timeline.

Fans can expect to see the series’ favourite characters Cloud Strife, Barret Wallace, Tifa Lockheart and the aforementioned Sephiroth. Interestingly, with the introduction of the FIRST SOLDIER Sephiroth storyline prior to the events of Crisis Core, there could be a potential torrent of information regarding the world of Final Fantasy VII that fans haven’t seen before. This could bring fans through the storyline of Cosmo Canyon and Red XIII’s origins, as well as further the details regarding the close friendship between Barret and Dyne.

Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis launches on September 7, and it already has over 1.5 million pre-registrations. Fans looking to pre-register as well can head over to the Ever Crisis website to do so prior to the launch.
