Rockstar Reveals GTA 6 Will Be $80, There’s an Ultimate Edition, and Pre-Orders Open on June 25

After the second trailer was released, GTA 6 fever hit a boiling point with fan-found rumours slamming the internet. As if in response to these rumours and fans (it wasn’t), Rockstar Games has revealed more details for the next Grand Theft Auto ahead of the third trailer’s launch on June 25.

June 25 is the day Rockstar Games is opening pre-orders for GTA 6 at midnight. Rockstar Games also revealed the game’s Ultimate Edition, which includes exclusive items and pre-order bonuses for the most anticipated game in the industry. Rockstar Games also ripped the band-aid off: Grand Theft Auto 6 will cost $79.99 at launch, just like Mario Kart World. While the base version of the game will cost $79.99, the Ultimate Edition will run fans $99.99.

The strange part is just how much seems to be hidden behind the Ultimate Edition paywall. Grand Theft Auto 6‘s Ultimate Edition will include “an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action around every corner,” Rockstar announced. The Ultimate Edition bonuses aren’t a bunch of cosmetics and extra bonuses to start your romp through Vice City with.

Rockstar claims the Ultimate Edition “amplifies the deepest and most immersive GTA experience yet with an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story,” which sounds like a lot more than just $20 more for a Hawaiian shirt. It appears Rockstar Games is locking certain missions, content, and in-game shops behind the Ultimate Edition, which feels like content is being held back by the extra $20 price of admission at launch.

That all being said, GTA 6 is a single-player experience set to launch on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. All Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders and purchases before November 20 will get the Vintage Vice City Pack (some of the cosmetics are pictured above), a collection of items embodying the neon-laced Vice City spirit.  Figuring the download size of GTA 6 will be substantial, Rockstar is letting players who pre-order digital versions of Grand Theft Auto VI pre-load on November 12 to ensure they can play at launch on November 19, and the physical Ultimate Edition will launch as a code-in-a-box to allow Ultimate players to also pre-load before November 19.

Hopefully, the download doesn’t take a week.
