HyperMegaTech! has revealed two new retro-inspired mobile consoles, THEC64 Mini and The Spectrum Handheld, for the modern gaming landscape.
Blaze Entertainment, the company that brings retro gaming back to the forefront of the 2020s with its HyperMegaTech! Consoles has just pulled back the curtain on two new retro-inspired handhelds that infuse the console market with designs pulled straight out of the 80s. The two retro gaming handhelds from the makers of Super Pocket are: THEC64 Mini and The Spectrum consoles. These two fresh designs take the Commodore 64 and the ZX Spectrum consoles (relics from the 1980s), jam them onto clamshell designs that mirror the 3DS, and return gamers to one of the earliest generations of gaming. The two HyperMegaTech! handhelds are designed around imagining ‘what if’ a portable version of these home computers existed in the 1980s, and showing what that would look like. Both THEC64 Mini and The Spectrum arrive with 25 titles each installed on their onboard memory, and this can be expanded with a microSD card. For fans who want the full experience, attachments can be rigged to the handheld with USB connectivity and a 3.5mm audio jack. Both consoles also come equipped with a 4.3-inch 800×480 IPS high-resolution display, a USB-C port for charging, and a suite of function keys that span the area beneath the screen to support microcomputer compatibility.

Both will come with a hard shell carry case, designed and coloured to match the included handheld and collector’s edition variants.
