Below are the details of what’s coming in the anniversary update.

  • New Game + – “New Game will allow players who’ve completed the game to restart Kena’s journey with all of their previously unlocked abilities, upgrades, outfits, Rot, etc and take on redesigned and more challenging combat encounters.”
  • Charmstones – “Charmstones that are individually equipable – these unique collectibles each provide different adjustments to Kena’s stats and abilities.”
  • Spirit Guide Trials – “New game mode called the Spirit Guide Trials, challenging players’ skills with a variety of replayable challenges across three different categories; Obstacle Courses, Wave Defenses, and Boss Reflects.”
  • New Outfits – “Completing the Spirit Guide Trials unlock outfits for Kena, each one inspired by one of the characters she meets along her journey. Succeeding at bonus objectives within each trial can unlock color variations of each outfit, as well as some unique Charmstones.”

Kena: Bridge of Spirits originally released on September 21, 2021, for PS4 and PS5. It’s the first game from Ember Lab, an animation studio that previously worked on the gorgeous animated fan film Majora’s Mask – Terrible Fate. The game was a hit with critics currently sitting at an 81 on Metacritic. Our own review awarded Kena an 8/10, saying “Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a solid game that hearkens back to titles of the sixth generation of games, with a coat of paint indicative of modern gaming that should appease younger players while offering enough gameplay variety for anyone to enjoy.”
