Nathan Vella, Co-Founder of Capybara Games Joins Annapurna Interactive

Nathan Vella, co-founder of Toronto based studio Capybara Games is joining an executive team at Annapurna Interactive as the company continues works on future indie titles.

According to Gamesutra, Vella previously established Capybara Games in 2003 and helped the studio develop games including Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and the game adaptation of Disney Pixar’s Cars. Since then, the team also produced larger games such as Super Time Force and Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked for current generation systems.

Last September, he tweeted news of his departure from CAPY while leaving the company to explore other opportunities. He also credited his studio for being “the best, most talented, most caring humans in game dev.”

A release also stated Vella will be providing his experience to Annapurna while it’s unclear what his roles will be in the game development process.

The studio has recently published award-winning releases including Outer Wilds, Journey for PC and iOS and Kentucky Route Zero.
