The creators of Earthworm Jim and The Neverhood released a behind the scenes trailer on their newest game.
Indie studio Pencil Test along with Versus Evil are hard at work for their newest game Armikrog, and today they decided to show how they made this stop motion point and click adventure. The game features a claymation style in an outer space world where gamers play as Tommynaught, an astronaut who wants to be a hero but isn’t quite there. He crash lands on a planet and with his sidekick he has to find his way out.
The process they show starts with pencil test animations. These are drawings of how the character moves and acts. From there, they made the skeleton for the character. Underneath all the clay, something has to hold up the character, so there is an actual structure inside. After that, they sculpt the flesh onto the base. From that rough idea they make the actual mould of the character, fit the skeleton inside and inject foam rubber. Then the characters are painted.
Michael Nelson, known for his work in the cult TV series Mystery Science 3000, voices Tommynaught and his partner Beak Beak is played by Rob Paulsen who is famous for his work as Yakko Warner in Animaniacs and Pinky from Pinky and the Brain. In the video, the developers go over some of the games functions. Players can switch between Tommynaught and Beak Beak who both have strengths and weaknesses
Armikrog was funded by Kickstarter, and is set for a spring release for Mac, PC and Linux operating systems with a Wii U version in the works as well.
