Report: New Call of Duty Allegedly Set in Space 1

Recent entries in the Call of Duty series saw the franchise explore the not-too-distant future, with Advanced Warfare taking place in 2054 and Black Ops III taking place in 2065. While these futuristic games were critically and commercially successful, and it seems as though this year’s Call of Duty may and push the series further than ever.

2016’s Call of Duty could be set in outer space, and feature space combat, according to a credible source. This wouldn’t be an unexpected leap for the series, as both Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Advanced Warfare featured futuristic combat, including Halo-style boost jumping and wall-running.

Infinity Ward is developing this year’s installment, and while many fans were hoping that the franchise would return to modern-day combat or the World War II flair featured in earlier Call of Duty games, notable NeoGaf poster shinobi602 says this may not be the case.  “This makes Black Ops 3 feel like the stone age. Metaphorically of course,” says the NeoGaf poster.

While this information has not been confirmed, shinobi602 accurately predicted and leaked many of Black Ops III’s features including wall-running, specialists, and previous-generation versions of the game.

The last Call of Duty game developed by Infinity Ward was Call of Duty: Ghosts, the first Call of Duty on current-generation consoles. This iteration in the franchise was widely regarded as one of the worst Call of Duty games of all time, and was one of the series least critically and commercially successful games to date.
