NHL 19 Predicts Toronto Maple Leafs Championship

NHL 19 Predicts Toronto Maple Leafs Championship 1

The Toronto Maple Leafs are going to break there more than 50-year championship drought if an in-game simulation in NHL 19 is to be believed.

According to the simulation, the Maple Leafs will defeat the San Jose Sharks in game seven of the Stanley Cup finals, thanks to a goal by their much heralded new signing, John Tavares. If the simulation came true, it would mark the first championship for the Toronto based team since 1967 and a major cause for celebration for the city.

EA Sports announced the results of the simulation in the form of a video, that also includes a number of other bits of interesting possibilities. Connor Mcdavid, who is widely regarded as the best hockey player in the world, is predicted to win the scoring title for the third straight year, as well as the Ted Lindsay award for leadership. On the defensive side, former Ottawa Senators defenceman Erik Karlsson is favoured to win the Norris Trophy for best defencemen and Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin is set to win the Calder trophy for being the top rookie.

It’s worth noting that these predictions should be taken with a grain of salt, especially for fans of Canadian teams. Last year’s NHL simulation predicted the Winnipeg Jets as the Stanley Cup champions, but the team ended up losing in the Conference Finals. That being said, the yearly NHL simulation did come close two years ago when it predicted that the Nashville Predators would win it all. The team made it to the finals, before narrowly losing to the champion Pittsburg Penguins. Regardless of if it comes true, the simulation does bring with is some hope for fans who have been waiting a long time for a championship.

The actual Toronto Maple Leafs kick off their quest for a championship tomorrow night at 7 PM EST, as they take on their heated rivals, the Montreal Canadiens. As for NHL 19, our review praised the game for its nuanced tweaks and new game modes that ultimately make it a must own title.
