The Pokémon Company Purchasing the Manufacturer Behind Its Trading Cards

Pokémon TCG is Getting a Pokémon Go Expansion this Summer 1

The Pokémon Company has announced that it is acquiring the North Carolina-based card printing firm, Millennium Print Group for a sum that wasn’t disclosed, according to a press release.

“We have had the opportunity to develop an amazing relationship with the expert team at The Pokémon Company International, an organization with a special culture that lives its values every day. This exciting new chapter for Millennium Print Group has a tremendously beneficial impact on both our business and its employees. We look forward to continuing to support our team members and customers while growing Millennium to be a premier printer for trading cards in the world,” Millennium Print Group CEO, Terry Pegram said in a press release.

Both entities have been in business manufacturing and packing trading cards based on the highly successful Nintendo franchise since 2015, but now that business relationship is changing in 2022. The acquisition of Millennium Print group will not affect day-to-day operations, the firm will continue to be separate from the Japanese company and remain autonomous. Although The Japanese company has stated in a press release it’s looking to expand and develop the trading card manufacturer’s capabilities and infrastructure; as well as providing “industry expertise.”

“The talented team at Millennium Print Group has been an important partner… for many years, helping us bring the Pokémon Trading Card Game to our fans with the quality they expect,” The Pokémon Company president, Kenji Okubo said in a press release.

“By joining forces in a more meaningful way, our goal is to enhance the ways our organizations work together and continue to bring the highest quality Pokémon TCG products to market. Simultaneously, we aim to develop Millennium into an even better, bigger, state-of-the-art version of their already exceptional organization, benefiting not just Pokémon, but all of their customers.”

More is coming for the trading card game this year as the Pokémon Go Expansion is set to launch on July 1st which is set to feature various cards themed after the hugely popular mobile game.
