Pokémon Go Details its Halloween Mischief Event

Pokémon Go is looking to get into the spooky spirit as developer, Niantic has detailed the return of its Halloween Mischief event which is set to kick off this Friday.

As part of the spooky festivities, the Halloween Mischief event will see the debut of Phantump, Pumpkaboo, and Galarian Slowking plus three brand new costumed Pokémon—Pikachu, Piplup and Drifblum. Pokémon Go players will also get a chance to experience two Special Research stories. The first of which is a continuation of the Season of Mischief storyline with two additional chapters unlocking through the Halloween event.

The other new storyline focuses on Yamask, which is a Pokémon that doesn’t appear that often in the wild. Additionally, for the very first time, Pokémon Go is adding Shiny Spinarak to the game. Pokémon Go is also looking to introduce a new size mechanic through the introduction of Pumpkaboo through the spooky-themed event. A unique aspect of this Pokémon is that it comes in four variant sizes. It looks like Niantic is focusing on that feature of Pumpkaboo, as it determines what size it evolves into as Gourgeist.

This time around the Halloween-themed event will be split into two parts. The first part called “Creepy Companions” will focus on Poison-type and Psychic-type Pokémon. Additionally, players that have a Galrain Slowpoke will be able to evolve it into a Galarian Slowking for the first time. In order to get the Pokémon to evolve, players will need to capture thirty psychic-type Pokémon to unlock the evolution.

Pokémon appearing in the wild during the first part include Halloween Pikachu, Zubat, Gastly, Drowzee, Spinarak, Misdreavus, Shuppet, Halloween Piplup, Stunky, Woobat, Yamask and Gothita, while Galarian Slowpoke, Murkrow, Scraggy, Yamask, Espurr, Alolan Raichu, Sableye, Banette, and Halloween Driflbim will appear in raids. The first part is set to run from October 15th through the 22nd.

The second part called “Ghoulish Pals” will feature the Pokémon Go debut of Pumpkaboo and Phantump and their evolutions, which will appear in four different sizes in the game. Pokémon Go players should note that a Collection Challenge to collect all four sizes during the week will be held so be on the lookout.

Pokémon appearing in the wild during the second part include Halloween Pikachu, Gastly, Murkrow, Misdreavus, Shuppet, Halloween Piplup, Purrloin, Phantump, Small Size Pumpkaboo, Average Size Pumpkaboo, Haunter, Yamask, Litwick, Large Size Pumpkaboo and Super Size Pumpkaboo. As for raids during the event during the second week will feature Murkrow, Yamask, Galarian Yamask, Phantump, Average Size Pumpkaboo, Alolan Marowak, Banette, Halloween Drifblim, and Lampent. The second part is set to run from October 22nd through the 31st.

The Pokémon Go Halloween Mischief event is set to kick off on October 15th at 10 AM and it will conclude on October 31st at 8 PM, local time. For more details on the event check the official blog post.
