Pokémon GO Adds Shiny Zorua To Its Halloween Event Pt 2, Here's How To Get One!

For the second part of the ongoing Pokémon GO Halloween event, Niantic has decided to drop the Tricky Fox Pokémon, Zorua, back into the wild, but this time, it can be shiny, and this is how to get yours.

Zorua has only been available in the juggernaut Pokémon GO mobile title since last year’s Halloween event, and it’s already time for trainers to attempt to get the elusive shiny colourway. For Niantic’s Halloween 2023 event part 2, Zorua has come back to Pokémon GO, and for the luckiest trainers, he now comes in blue. While Zorua spawns are truly random and rare, there are a few methods trainers can use to increase the chances of landing on one, and more importantly, increasing the chances of the very rare ‘shundo’ which refers to a shiny creature that has maxed stats. Below, trainers can see the difference between the two as they appear in the game.

How to Catch A Shiny Zorua In Pokémon GO

Like in the 5th generation, when it was introduced in Pokémon Black & White, Zorua appears as something else with its unique Illusion ability. In Pokémon GO, Zorua appears as the trainer’s current buddy Pokémon with its ability. To rig this system, trainers can simply choose almost any non-ghost creature to have as a buddy to see whether there’s a Zorua on the map or not. Thankfully, trainers don’t need to have their buddy out on the map at the same time for Zorua to take the bait, so only one Rayquaza will appear on the map, making it a simple task to determine where he is.

I mentioned I use Rayquaza, but fans can use any distinguishable creature they want to weed out the Zorua, even other shiny creatures, because shiny colourways do not appear on the overworld. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) have even mentioned that Shadow Pokémon can be used, which makes the appearance on the map coated in a dark miasma. Funny enough, this ‘Illusion’ makes it far easier to see Zorua than if it was in its regular form. More encounter rates increase the chance of spawning a shiny, and unfortunately, even with this rigged method of encountering Zorua, a shiny spawn is still left to chance.

The Halloween event runs until October 31, so fans should make haste to grab a Shiny Zorua until it’s too late. Fans can also swing over to the official Niantic website to see all of the Halloween 2023 details.
