Pokémon Scarlet & Violet launched on November 18th and has already managed to sell 10 million copies worldwide.

Pokémon set a record with these sales. This is the second successful launch since Pokémon Sword, and Pokémon Shield sold over six million units on November 15th, 2019. The sale of over 10 million units truly shows the reach that Pokémon has when it comes to having multiple generations still interested in the game. Pokémon has always managed to see strong sales out of the gate, but the franchise sets new heights with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, seeing more people than ever flock to jump in on the action.

Reviews have been mixed for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Some are simply thrilled with it excited by the new Pokémon experience, while others are more critical about it, outlining the issues along with technical bugs. Diehard fans are excited about the entire game transformation but are a tad bit disappointed in the poor performance. Although, the change in the entire design style is what immediately draws the gamer’s eyes.

Despite the bugs, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet delivers that undeniable feeling of nostalgia, bringing back memories of jumping into Pokemon for the first time, but now on a new system. For many, Pokémon games were some of their first experiences in the world of gaming. It is no wonder the OG Pokémon game that was released in 1998 sold over 400 million copies between its launch date in 98 and its updates in 2000.

The most recent entry, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, was well-liked here at CGMagazine earning 9/10. The review was summed with Preston Dozsa explaining, “Pokémon Legends Arceus is a successful reinvention of what the Pokémon series is capable of. There are still things that Game Freak can improve upon, but if this is what the future of Pokémon holds, I cannot wait to see where we’ll journey to next.”

With 10 million sales in only three days, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is already the strongest selling Pokémon out of the gate. Time will tell how the game does over time, but consumers seem excited to experience this latest entry in the long-running and ever-changing Pokémon series.
