Pokimane Announces Departure From Twitch After 10 Years

Since 2014, Twitch and Imane “Pokimane” Anys have been (mostly) mutually exclusive, and with her latest contract extension in February 2022 coming to an end, the streamer has decided to leave the platform.

It has been a rough year for Twitch. With a new policy involving ‘artistic nudity’ taking the platform by storm, 35% workforce layoffs, and other notable streamers already having made their way to other platforms, Twitch has been dealt some serious blows over 2023. Although 2024 just started, one of Twitch’s biggest streamers, Imane “Pokimane” Anys, has decided to leave the platform.

The writing has been on the wall, though. Pokimane has expressed interest in leaving the platform before, and in September 2022, she said the platform was not “creatively fulfilling” anymore. Her announcement was made over on X (formerly Twitter), and it can be seen below.

The parting also appears to be mutual, with the official Twitch X account posting a message that reads, “What an incredible journey it’s been. We’re so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and what’s ahead in the future. You’ll always have a home on Twitch, Poki” in response to the above post. While Pokimane is leaving the streaming platform, fans can find her all over the internet, as streaming was only a part of the content she produces.

Without Twitch, fans can find Pokimane on her YouTube channel, where she has 6.6 million subscribers, and she also has her podcast, Don’t Tell Anyone with Pokimane, where she dives into her biggest secrets, which started in December 2023. Although Pokimane is leaving, both she and the platform will remain after their partnership, and although she is leaving, Pokimane is not banned from the platform and can return at any point. With Twitch and Pokimane parting ways, Pokimane has called it “the end of an era.”

Where the internet personality goes next is anyone’s guess. With fellow streamers occupying other platforms like Kick and YouTube, Pokimane can follow suit and jump to a separate platform. Fans wanting to stay in the loop can follow Pokimane on X.
