Returnal is Possibly Coming to PC according to Steam Database Listing

It’s been more than a year since the release of Returnal on PS5, and it seems the PlayStation exclusive might be heading to more players on PC if a recently revealed Steam database entry of the game is to be believed.

This time around, Sony is trying to be a bit more sneaking with its PC release as the game is listed in the database as codename ‘Oregon.’ Although, the tags in the listing – rogue-like, sci-fi, and bullet hell make it very clear that this is the Housemarque studio game as it is a reference to the title’s Tower of Sisyphus and Atropos in the database’s details.

Returnal on PC was a part of a list of many other unannounced PC titles that were revealed during last year’s huge Nvidia GeForce Now leak. On that note, according to VGC, they state that they’ve seen Returnal playing on PC which was shared by a source, this is more evidence that the PC version is heading its way to Steam.

The Returnal PC news follows Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO, Jim Ryan commented on PlayStation’s business on PC in a Thursday business briefing. Ryan states the company expects half of its annual releases to be on PC and mobile by 2025.

“By expanding to PC and mobile, and it must be said… also to live services, we have the opportunity to move from a situation of being present in a very narrow segment of the overall gaming software market, to being present pretty much everywhere,” Ryan said in the business briefing.

“I think if we do this right, if we execute with intelligence, and we execute with excellence, the opportunities for significant growth in the number of people who play our games, the number of people who enjoy our games, and the number of people who spend money on our games, is exponentially a large one.”

During the briefing, lifetime sales of PlayStation’s three biggest PC releases were revealed. In order, Horizon: Zero Dawn released on August 7th, 2020 sold 2.398 million copies, Days Gone released on May 18th, 2021 sold 852,000 copies, and God of War (2018) released on January 14th, 2022 sold 971,000 copies. For upcoming PC releases, Uncharted: The Legacy of Thieves Collection is slated to release this year, leaks have pointed to either a June or July release.
