During an onstage moment at Fanatics Fest 2026, actor/director Ryan Reynolds confirmed a new Deadpool film is in the works.
If the box office is any indicator for a film sequel, fans would be pretty certain that a new Deadpool film would eventually happen, considering the staggering success of the third installment. According to Box Office Mojo, Deadpool & Wolverine took home over $1.3 billion worldwide on a large budget of $530 million, and according to Metacritic, the film was favoured by fans, garnering a 7.9/10 with over 2,000 fan-helmed reviews made. With all the evidence in play, it’s safe to say fans love Deadpool, so Ryan Reynolds’ announcement at Fanatics Fest 2026 is a big deal.
According to Deadline, Ryan Reynolds said, “There’s a few really deep cuts that I think are missing behind the movies. I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics. There’s certainly some stuff that, you know, I love that Fabian Nicieza [co-creator of Deadpool] wrote that is incredible. Gerry Duggan, who was a friend, was an incredible comic writer,” and then he added the bombshell at the end, “There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another Deadpool film. It’s going to be great,” essentially confirming a fourth film is incoming.
Considering the Avengers: Doomsday trailer just launched to immediate fan reaction, it’s possible the Merc with a Mouth makes his second appearance on the multiversal planes of the MCU. In the previous film, Wade Wilson explored the TVA, took on Cassandra Nova with the help of Wolverine, and stopped his timeline from being erased after the events of the film Logan saw the ‘anchor being’ of his existence meet a heroic end.
One of the scenes from the third film saw Deadpool on the receiving end of a tender embrace from Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth), potentially foreshadowing what will happen in the future. Thor was also seen recently having the Stormbreaker blocked by Robert Downey Jr.’s masked take on Doctor Doom with just his fingers in the latest trailer, so it remains to be seen how everything fits together, or how a fourth Deadpool film will push the envelope further for the character to join the MCU officially.
All we know for certain is what Ryan Reynolds says: another Deadpool is happening.
