At today’s PlayStation State of Play, they finally showed off some new Silent Hill details, including Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill: The Short Message.
Silent Hill: The Short Message
Beginning with Silent Hill: The Short Message, this new horror title was given a decent-length trailer, with us following a young woman into madness. From the trailer, we can see her explore a truly terrifying building filled with all kinds of horror we have come to expect from Konami. The Short Message was presented as a free-to-play title, and it will be available for download on PlayStation 5 today. The game’s producer Motoi Okamoto said, “Konomi is proud to present our vision of contemporary psychological horror, and we hope you all enjoy it.” See the full trailer for Silent Hill: The Short Message below.
Silent Hill 2 Remake
What Silent Hill fans have really been waiting for, however, is Silent Hill 2, and we finally got a good glimpse of its gameplay. We see James Sunderland take on all the gruesome baddies you remember from the original title, nurses included, now remade on Unreal Engine 5 for the PS5.
The game was originally released in September 2001, and now, almost 23 years later, fans are still clamouring for the remake. The original was released for multiple platforms, including PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox 360, it doesn’t look like the Silent Hill 2 Remake will be available on all platforms, though it does have a Steam page already. Sorry, Xbox players!
The Silent Hill 2 remake was originally announced in October 2022, and though Konami has made many promises of new properties, everyone was still speculating that the remake would be on its way. Though we don’t have an official release date for the remake, two years into production, we can hope to see it soon.
For those who can’t wait, jump into Silent Hill: The Short Message on the PS5 later today.
