A new PlayStation blog post revealed that two State of Play showcases will be airing on September 3rd, featuring Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
Not one, but two PlayStation State of Play presentations will be coming out this week, providing a look at some upcoming games. The latest PlayStation blog post noted that the two back-to-back broadcasts will take place on Thursday, September 3, starting at 6:00 am PT / 9:00 am ET. So far, the only confirmed title to be talked about is Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. Other PlayStation Studios and third-party partners will have announcements too, but they are under wraps.
After State of Play is over, a new episode of State of Play Japan will begin, hosted by Yuki Kaji again. State of Play Japan was said to feature “deep dives into upcoming games from game studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay, announcements, and more.” Some speculate this would be the perfect time to show more of a deep dive into Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the next Naughty Dog entry. So much time has passed since its reveal, so it almost surely has to be addressed at this State of Play.
Another game that is well on its way to release in a few weeks is Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine. This title will release on the PlayStation 5 on September 15, providing that last-minute push to promote the game. More likely than not, this broadcast should show off these adamantium claws one last time before release.
Everything else about these two continuous State of Play presentations remains a mystery. Even the length of these broadcasts was not revealed. This may be another opportunity for Sony to address the whole fiasco about killing off physical disc support in 2028 as well. Maybe or maybe not, but it truly appears like Sony is sticking to their word. These showcases may be a good opportunity to tease next month’s Tokyo Game Show as well. State of Play Japan will be streamed in Japanese with English subtitles.
PlayStation’s last State of Play, not including the spotlight on Phantom Blade Zero, focused on games such as Marvel’s Wolverine, God of War Laufey, Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen, and Until Dawn 2. They also mentioned how PlayStation Studios was working on Fairgames, Horizon Hunters Gathering, and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Be sure to tune in to the end of State of Play to hear about Final Fantasy 7 Revelation from Square Enix!
