Star Wars KOTOR Remake Trailer & Tweets Disappear From The Internet

The KOTOR Remake has had a turbulent development cycle, and today it gets worse as all traces of official Star Wars: KOTOR Remake news and tweets have seemingly vanished from the internet.

Revealed way back in April 2021 on a podcast from Jason Schreier, the Star Wars: KOTOR Remake has seen development trouble hit numerous times after it was pulled into the light. In July 2022, the remake was put on an indefinite hold, after Aspyr — the company behind the KOTOR switch ports — abruptly fired the game’s art director and design director. After that, Aspyr was pulled from the project, and parent company Saber Interactive took over in August of 2022. Since then, fans have been left in the dark regarding the Remake‘s future.

Today, rather than a warning or announcement, all information and tweets regarding the Star Wars remake have vanished from the internet, including the teaser trailer — which has now been switched to private — revealed at the Sony showcase in September 2021.

Remakes have done notoriously well in the gaming sphere, with high-profile titles like Resident Evil 4 and Last of Us Part I selling incredibly well despite having already been ported to the eighth generation of consoles. So whether this is an indirect cancellation or something else remains to be seen, as no official announcement has been made from Sabre Interactive just yet regarding the future of the Star Wars: KOTOR Remake.

In other Star Wars news — due to the studio name being a reference to the Death Star — a new game studio, That’s No Moon, comprised of former Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward & Bungie developers has announced that they are working on a “popular IP”. Their debut project is reported to be “backed by an unprecedented partnership and more than $100 million investment from Smilegate” according to their official website.

While nothing concrete has been announced regarding the future of the Star Wars: KOTOR Remake or lack thereof, fans can follow the official Sabre Interactive X (formerly Twitter) account for news as it happens.
