Steam’s Game Festival Returning to Fill E3 Void in June

Valve Planning For a Small Presence at E3

Steam is launching its own Steam Game Festival to make up for the absence of E3 following cancellations from COVID-19.

From June 9 to June 14, developers have a chance to share details on their latest projects and use the distribution tool to drop new demos for gamers. The timespan also takes place during the week when E3 was slated to happen before it was ultimately pulled without a digital program. Ahead of time, developers are also able to apply for spots to present their games during the week.

On a Twitter thread, industry host Geoff Keighley stated Steam’s own digital-based festival is the first to come for players worldwide as all events are stopped during the worldwide pandemic.

“The Festival will also expand to more platforms, Keighley wrote, adding the reveals are also accessible with playable experiences “From the comfort of your own home.”

Players interested in seeing what the Steam Game Festival will offer can subscribe to notifications for the event in June, as every day brings a new announcement and links to download a demo or surprise launch title on their platform.

Its previous Spring Festival happened last month from March 18 to 23, letting developers steam live gameplay demos as well as a variety of Indie titles up for release.
