Steam’s Family Sharing introduced by Valve

Steam's Family Sharing introduced by Valve 1

Steam’s official blog announced Family Sharing to be available for Steam users.

The new program will allow family members and close friends to play games downloaded by one user, and play it themselves while earning their own Steam achievements and saving their own game progress.

In order to set up Family Sharing, a user has to authorize a shared computer, which will result in that account’s game library to be available for anyone to access. Two users will not be able to use the same account at the same time.

The blog adds that Family Sharing extends to a minimum of 10 devices, and complete libraries can be shared. It is unclear whether ten devices mean ten different user accounts. Regional restrictions, purchased DLC, and subscriptions factor in whether a user can access a game’s full content.
