It has been almost a full year since Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars was announced, and today Konami has confirmed it will be delayed into next year.
The news comes from the source itself, the official Suikoden X (formerly Twitter) account. Although the hype was incredibly high when the remasters were initially announced, news has been relatively quiet about the release information. Today is when that changed, and Konami themselves have announced the remastered titles will be shelved until 2024 at the earliest. The entire statement can be read below.
It’s important to note the statement reads “We have reached the conclusion that despite the very best efforts of our dedicated development staff to release the Remasters in 2023, additional time is needed to ensure the quality performance and gameplay experience our users deserve” regarding the launch. The window for launch is ‘after 2023’ now, so it’s anyone’s guess (besides Konami) when the title will receive a release date.
Fan response has been highly favourable for the announcement, and considering the original Suikoden launched back in 1995 patience has been the fanbase’s biggest strength. User DeFrostKaldur said, “Take all the time that’s needed. Devs mental health / physical health is important as well. Thank you for the hard work!” Others like user Seshalicious added requests “Please take this time to add the original versions of the game.” Others have asked for a physical release as well.
Then, there are other fans who feel a little left out in the cold considering Konami announced the titles almost a full year ago and have remained radio silent. User KureinInSight said “Take your time but PLEASE we as fans urge you to be more transparent! You acted like the game was ready to go and it’s been a year, we don’t know nothing, and we’re talking about a Remaster. Finger crossed it won’t take too much!”
Fans anticipating the release of Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars will have to wait at least three more months to dive back in to the world of Suikoden, but in the meantime fans can journey over to the Konami site to read the full post.
