The Good Life Announced From The Creator Of Deadly Premonition 2

Swery, the creator of Deadly Premonition and D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die along with his team have announced their latest project — The Good Life.

As described from the press release, The Good Life is an upcoming title in which players will get to experience debt repayment in a life simulation RPG.

If that sounds unusual, The Good Life only just gets weirder. The forthcoming game will also feature a murder mystery narrative, and strangest of all — The Good Life incorporates a 24-hour schedule, where at night, the townsfolk transform into street cats.

The story within the game follows the exploits of Naomi, a debt-riddled photographer who has recently moved to Rainy Woods from New York City. Rainy Woods is the fictional country hamlet located somewhere in Northern England where the game takes place.

At first glance, the strangest thing about Rainy Woods is the eclectic assortment of townsfolk — however, players soon discover a body of a young girl who has been mysteriously killed by what appears to be an ancient, medieval sword. Things only get weirder as night falls and everyone in the world of The Good Life transforms into street cats.

Looking at early footage from the recently released trailer, the murder mystery title seems to employ a unique 3D art style. The game blends together brightly coloured textures with low-poly geometric models, almost reminiscent of Origami. The geometric look also carries over to the character art, with each and every character having a very distinct almost rigid set of features.

Hidetaka Suehiro or better known as Swery is no stranger to weirdness in his games. Both Deadly Premonition and D4 are well-known examples of games that feature strange and often campy narratives. Fans of works such as Twin Peaks or even Alan Wake may want to consider checking out The Good Life when it becomes available on PC.

Plans for a console release of The Good life are yet to be determined. No release date has been announced at this time, however, those interested in the game can back it on the crowdfunding website Fig.
