The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners Released on Oculus Quest
Skydance Interactive’s The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners is officially out on the Oculus Quest, bringing the PCVR-based zombie experience into a portable wireless platform. It also becomes a launch title for the upgraded Oculus Quest 2 headset with its own visual and performance enhancements.

We reviewed The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners earlier in February 2020, praising it for giving the franchise a fully fleshed-out VR experience that makes excellent use of character choices and engaging combat. The walker-killing mechanics were also deep and encouraged players to be resourceful when weapons deteriorated. Its resource-gathering was also a core value from the series as players can use them to craft food, healing items and weapons. More importantly, it featured a 15-hour story with immersive RPG mechanics across the walker infested New Orleans with a day/night cycle.

Unlike Survios’ The Walking Dead Onslaught, Skydance Interactive’s game is the first VR game based on the long-running franchise. It’s also connected closer to the graphic novel universe by Robert Kirkman and doesn’t include the TV show characters. Instead, The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners includes its own 3D art style which creates the backdrop of a flooded New Orleans. Players become a famous survivor called “The Tourist” who reaches the city in search of a fabled military vault filled with supplies. Players will also be encountering human factions with their own quests and objectives. A character-driven dialogue and choices will also be measured in a loyalty meter, changing behaviors with certain NPCs across the game.

Additional localization has also been added to Saints and Sinners and lets players experience the game with Russian and Italian support. Players in Japan will also get the game when it releases close to Halloween on October 28, 2020.

Oculus Quest users can now experience The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners with slight compromises in graphical fidelity, while it’s complete enough to include all of its PCVR and PSVR sibling’s content. An upcoming update will also add the Meatgrinder survival horde mode into the Quest, letting players fight an endless wave of walkers to their heart’s content. The Quest/Quest 2 version is nearly identical to the full version and includes The Complete Edition that comes priced at $39.99 USD. The physical version of The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners Complete Edition will also hit retailers including GameStop, Walmart, EB Games, Amazon and Best Buy on November 3, 2020 and players can pre-order it ahead of time.

The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners is available digitally for the Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 headsets now within its app store.
