The Razer Viper has long been one of my favourite gaming mice, ranking just behind the Death Adder in terms of comfort and what I will flock to when there is a new iteration. While the design is, for the most part, in line with what we expect from the Viper range, the weight is a shift I did not expect to like so much. This mouse is one of the lightest mice I have ever used, and that includes the Logitech G PRO X Superlight. Weighing in at just 54-55 grams, this mouse is incredibly easy to maneuver, allowing for swift and precise movements that can make all the difference in competitive play. Despite its featherweight build, the Viper V3 Pro feels sturdy and well-constructed, with no discernible flex or creaking, keeping the solid feel we have come to expect from the brand.

That is not to say everything was removed to make this mouse light. Under the hood, the Viper V3 Pro is packed with Razer’s latest and greatest technologies. The star of the show is the Razer Focus Pro 35K Optical Sensor Gen-2, which offers an impressive 35,000 DPI sensitivity, 750 IPS max speed, and 70G max acceleration. This sensor delivers unrivalled tracking performance on a wide variety of surfaces, ensuring that your every movement is translated with pinpoint accuracy. I have personally tried it on a range of surfaces in the office, including glass, and it manages it all like a champ.
With that level of speed, the standard dongle will simply not do, and this is why the Razer Viper V3 Pro features Razer HyperPolling Technology, which, when combined with the Razer HyperSpeed Wireless dongle, enables a true polling rate of up to 8000 Hz. This means that the mouse communicates with your computer up to 8 times faster than standard gaming mice, resulting in near-instantaneous response times and virtually no input lag. It also comes with the dongle to do it out of the box, so thankfully, you don’t need an extra accessory this time around, compared to the Razer Basilisk.
It is hard to say just how much this adds to the experience since, despite my best efforts, I am not an esports champion, but in shooters like Fortnite, it feels incredibly snappy, with far less frustration than I have found on other devices. I have tried a few demos that are made to test precision and speed of movement, and while I managed to hurt my ego even more in the process, the Razer Viper V3 pro managed to impress throughout every test.
I also have to say the buttons on this mouse are fantastic. The Viper V3 Pro also features Razer’s 3rd generation Optical Mouse Switches, which offer a blistering 0.2 ms actuation speed and a 90-million click lifecycle. These switches eliminate the risk of double-clicking issues and provide a satisfyingly crisp and tactile click feel. I find it hard to go back to other mice after using this one for about two weeks now; they just don’t feel as satisfying, much to my annoyance.
While the Viper V3 Pro builds upon the success of its predecessors, it also introduces several exciting new features and improvements. One of the most notable additions is the DPI Sensitivity Matcher, which allows you to precisely match the sensitivity of your old mouse to your new Viper V3 Pro, eliminating the need for a lengthy adjustment period. I don’t know how many people will need this, but it is good to see Razer giving the option to people who want it.
The Viper V3 Pro also boasts an impressive battery life of up to 95 hours, ensuring that you can power through even the longest gaming sessions without needing to recharge. That is only at the 1000 Hz polling rate; once you push the mouse up to 8000 Hz, that number drops dramatically to 17 hours. Thankfully, there is a full range between there that ensures you can find a nice sweet spot for precision and battery life since, let’s be honest, while 8000 Hz is nice if you are simply playing The Sims, it may be a bit overkill.

As I mentioned above, I love how this mouse feels, and having used it daily, it has only grown on me more. The smooth-touch finish and ergonomic shape of the Viper V3 Pro provide a comfortable and secure grip, while the ultra-lightweight design allows for effortless movement and control. The mouse glides smoothly across the mousepad thanks to its large, high-quality PTFE feet.
While the Razer Viper V3 Pro is an outstanding gaming mouse, it’s not without its flaws or, at least, drawbacks. If you are someone who likes to travel and use their mouse on a range of devices, you may be a bit disappointed here. There is no Bluetooth connectivity, and you need the dongle to get this mouse up and running. There is also no RGB lighting, with the mouse having almost no lights on the device directly. While a fantastic choice for longevity and weight, it does look a bit more subdued compared to other mice from the brand.
There is a lot to love about the Razer Viper V3 Pro, and even though the lack of lighting and Bluetooth may be annoying to some, they are not deal breakers and make sense for the market this mouse is targeting. This is a mouse aimed squarely at esports or enthusiast gamers looking to ensure their gear is built for the challenges of high-level gaming. But that level of tech does have a price, and at $159.99, the Razer Viper V3 Pro is certainly a premium product. While its performance justifies the cost, it may not be accessible to everyone.
