Theos: Cities of Myth – A City Builder Immersed In Greek Mythology

Theos: Cities of Myth has been officially announced at The MIX Summer Game Showcase, a game which ropes the demands of the Greek gods into your city-building experience.

As part of The MIX Summer Showcase today, we were introduced to the stylish new city builder, Theos: Cities of Myth. This game was published by Dotemu and developed by Triskell Interactive, the studio that remade the classic city builder Pharaoh into Pharaoh: A New Era. The goal of Theos: Cities of Myth is to build cities in tribute to one of seven select Greek deities, as appeasing your God’s desires can lead to great gifts, but insults to their wishes can bring their wrath down upon you.

Fans of Pharaoh: A New Era will find that Theos: Cities of Myth plays very similarly, with the city building tools taken directly from its predecessor. As just mentioned, your typical city-building goals of tending to your citizens’ needs for food, water, housing, culture, and entertainment must be balanced with the needs (or wants) of the Greek God your city was built in tribute of.

There are several new features that set Theos apart from the classical city builders it was inspired by, such as building an army to defend your territory, or using it to set out and conquer your rivals in real-time battles. There is also, of course, the core mechanic of appeasing your tribute God, which works in tandem with a well-designed city to attract legendary and historical figures to your settlement to further boost your empire’s power.

If you think you have what it takes to earn the Gods’ favour with your city-building skills, you can find Theos: Cities of Myth on Steam, which will release sometime in 2026.
