THQ Nordic announced today that they have acquired Koch Media, the parent company of Deep Silver, who is known for games such as Saints Row, Dead Island and Metro.
The deal is worth a reported $149 million USD and reunites THQ Nordic with Saints Row and Metro, two properties that were sold off back when the original THQ went under. The company also announced that there wouldn’t be any restructuring at this time and that Koch Media will continue to operate as a separate entity.
THQ Nordic and Koch Media now employ over 1,600 people and currently own 106 intellectual properties. They also have a combined 50 games in development, 17 of which have been announced thus far.
THQ Nordic is known mostly for the Darksiders series, which take place on a post-apocalyptic earth where mankind is extinct and demons and angels battle for control of the earth. Each instalment in the series has you playing as a different horseman of the apocalypse and fighting for order in the games unruly world. Darksiders III, the newest entry in the series is scheduled to release at some point in 2018.
The company also announced yesterday that they will be bringing a remastered version of the original De Blob game to Nintendo Switch consoles later this year.
