World of Warcraft Plunderstorm Tows A Pirate-themed Battle Royale To Azeroth

World of Warcraft has opened the docks to their latest content update for Dragonflight, and with the Plunderstorm update (10.2.6) now live, fans can engage in a PvP battle royale.

After full-on teasing of the update for weeks, Blizzard Entertainment has finally pulled back the curtain on the newest content update for World of Warcraft Dragonflight, Plunderstorm. While this isn’t a supermassive update akin to previous releases, it does add an experimental gameplay variant to the shores of Azeroth. Plunderstorm invites players to the Arathi Highlands to duke it out and see who comes out on top in a limited-time event. Oh, and it’s also pirate-themed, and a battle royale-inspired event and a trailer can be seen below.

World of Warcraft Plunderstorm Key Features

  • Typically for battle royale experiences, the last one standing on a shrinking map will be declared the winner, and in Plunderstorm everyone who participates will make progress on reward tracks. Abilities for the battle royale are unique for the occurrence and are stackable up to rank 3 (epic). Additionally, epic-level abilities can be discovered in high-value rare NPC encounters and treasure chests on the map.
  • For the first time, WoW and WoW Classic players can engage in battle against each other, and whether through applied game time or an active subscription, any active WoW player will be able to play. Even Non-Dragonflight players can engage in Plunderstorm, but they will need to download and install the modern game client (purchase unnecessary).
  • Solo and Duo modes will be available!
  • Battle.net Account-wide Progress can be made through the Keg Leg renown track and it goes up to level 40.
  • WoW and WoW Classic players can earn a new parrot mount and pet for the event.
