Alan Wake 2 Sees 10-Day Delay Moving It Closer To Halloween

Delays in the video game industry have become commonplace, and Remedy Entertainment has just announced Alan Wake 2, the highly anticipated sequel, will now release 10 days later than expected.

For an absolutely loaded October 2023, Remedy Entertainment has decided to delay Alan Wake 2 prior to its originally announced October 17 release. Thankfully, the delay is only 10 days long, but fans have been effectively waiting for the sequel of the original Alan Wake for over a decade now. The news comes from the title’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, and it can be seen below.

Fans have been very accepting of the news (aside from a few outliers) and supportive of the development teams choice, with one fan Hyo_Joestar even saying “Already pre-ordered since day 1 ! Take your time.” Other fans have pointed out that it is the same release month as the other highly anticipated sequel Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and hope one week’s time from Marvel’s release is enough to steel themselves upon re-entry of The Dark Place.

Alan Wake 2 features a dual protagonist setting, with players taking control of the titular Alan Wake, who is still trapped in an upside-down seeming version of New York City called The Dark Place after the events of the first entry. Fans will also see behind the lens of FBI agent Saga Anderson, as she investigates a string of murders in the Pacific Northwest.

The titular horror writer has been missing for 13 years at the start of Alan Wake 2, and Creative Director of Remedy Entertainment, Sam Lake, told GameSpot “I truly feel that Alan Wake 2 is, in many ways, a very, very special project. And I have not felt this excited ever in my career” regarding the sequel.

Alan Wake 2 is now releasing on October 27, for the PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
