New, continuing and returning series make their way across the various anime streamers for spring 2024; here is a list of the highly-anticipated ones.
As the cherry blossoms are about to bloom, so does the next anime season for 2024. Spring 2024 anime is going to offer audiences a busy time for the harvesting season. While winter was quite eventful with Solo Leveling taking over the Crunchyroll streamer by storm. Meanwhile, Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 2 had fans laughing with more riduculousness; A-1 Pictures has been really busy. But now, the spring season is revitalizes and birthing some other great shows.
Here is our list of awesome returning/continuing anime series to watch for spring 2024:
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc (Ufotable) — May 12 (Crunchyroll)
One of the most viral anime and manga series in recent years returns. Coming off the heels of its third season, this season of Demon Slayer is the calm before the storm. As the Twelve Kizuki demons are dwindling, demon activities have lessened. But now, the villain Muzan has his eyes set on obtaining the One Who Has Conquered the sunlight. My Hero Academia Season 7 (BONES) — May 4 (Crunchyroll)
My Hero Academia is back in full action. The world is already distraught with the League of Villains, All for One and Shigaraki revealing more of their plans. The amount of pro heroes are dropping like flies, and public trust has plummeted in heroes. However, Deku does not know the meaning of going down silently. He is back with Class 1-A and the pro heroes! The tough battles for everyone is underway. I cannot wait to see some of my favourite fights from the manga get animated, especially with the introduction of the new American hero Cathleen “Star and Stripe” Bates!
Black Butler -Public School Arc- (CloverWorks) — April 13 (Crunchyroll)
After a third season run in 2014, the Black Butler series is back! Here is the description of the new season on Crunchyroll: “Amidst Britain’s elite, Weston College defies government oversight. So, when students vanish—including the son of Queen Victoria’s cousin—Her Majesty sends her Watchdog Ciel Phantomhive to investigate. With his loyal demon butler, Sebastian, Ciel must navigate treacherous school politics and infiltrate Weston’s model prefects, the P4, if he is to unravel the mysteries that shroud this institution.”

The world of KONOSUBA has grown exponentially over the years, with many spin-offs and crossovers into other series. Now, the hilarious fantasy squad is back but with a twist in this third season: “The dysfunctional party is back, but they may be short a member soon ’cause Kazuma is over it. Disillusioned with adventure, he wants to become a monk, but Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness call bull. However, the career dispute gets put on hold when a princess requests to hear all about their tales. Will the taste of fame at the royal castle keep them together or will this mark their farewell tour?”
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Cour 2 (Studio Bind) — April 7 (Crunchyroll)
The 34-year-old whose life gets turned upside down after getting run over by a truck is returning for part 2 of season 2. Here is the description of what to expect from this next part: “Reincarnated in a new world as an infant, Rudy will seize every opportunity to live the life he’s always wanted. Armed with new friends, some freshly acquired magical abilities, and the courage to do the things he’s always dreamed of, he’s embarking on an epic adventure—with all of his past experience intact!”

Oblivion Battery (MAPPA) — April 9 (Crunchyroll)
MAPPA is taking a break from the gory, action-filled highs of Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. If you ever got the watch Ace in the Diamond, then you know Japanese baseball is no joke. Every team requires a good battery (a good chemistry) between the pitcher and catcher. This is where iron-armed pitcher, Haruka Kiyomine, and the shrewd catcher, Kei Kaname come into play.
They were deemed to be a deadly duo in middle school. While they were high prospects to go to a baseball-oriented high school, the two end up going to a high school without a baseball team. However, the unlikely will happen with both of them attending the same school. What better way to start the spring anime and baseball season!
WIND BREAKER (CloverWorks) — April 4 (Crunchyroll)
Think along the lines of Tokyo Revengers, but where all the students of one school is made up of delinquents. School grades, what is that? The fights are all that matter. This is pretty much WIND BREAKER. The series is described as such: “Furin High School is renowned as a super school of delinquents. Haruka Sakura, a first-year student, came from outside the city to fight to the top. However, Furin High School has become a group that protects the town called the “Chime of the Wind Breaker.”
Viral Hit (Okuruto Noboru) — April 10 (Crunchyroll)
This one was a viral manwha hit on Webtoon! Hobin Yu is a scrawny kid, always being bullied. But like any victim of bullying, the bullying has to stop somewhere. Hobin learns to fight from an anonymous online channel, and he begins taking down his bullies. He does so while being the latest streaming sensation on NewTube. With his internet fame rising quickly, will Hobin be able to keep it up or will he eventually get crushed? Find out in this brawling spring anime!
Whisper Me A Love Song (Yokohama Animation Lab) — April 13 (HiDive)
Alright, let us take a breather from all the fighting! This series is based on a popular manga series, folowing the bubbly first-year student Himari. She immediately falls head over heels for her upperclassman Yori after watching her band perform on the first day of school. Himari tells Yori she loves her, and surprisinlgy Yori says the same back to her. However, Himari realizes her upperclassman are expressing two different types of love. Thus, she ponders what love truly means. A love blossoming in spring is always a treat!
KAIJU No.8 (Production I.G.) — April 13 (Crunchyroll)
This is my favourite on this list, and probably others too. This is also based on a popular manga series. It is kind of like Attack on Titan meets Godzilla and Pacific Rim, but it has a bit more humour. The story follows Kafka Hibino on the backdrop of a world plagued with creatures known as Kaiju. He vows to enlist in The Defense Force when he comes of age, along with his childhood friend Mina Ashiro.
While Mina rises the ranks in The Defense Force, Kafka ended up in a more janitorial role cleaning up after kaiju fights. But after Kafka meets Reno Ichikawa, both of them are determined to join the Force. Kafka’s promise to Mina is reawakened, and let us just say other circumstances make Kafka even more inclined to be an asset to the Force. This will most likely be the most hyped anime of the spring season for 2024. You do not want to miss this one, that is a guarantee!
