BIG Festival 2022 to Host Square Enix, Guerrilla Games, Riot Games and More Early Next Month 1

The summer season of events is continuing in a big way as Latin America’s largest games festival, Best International Games Festival (BIG Festival) 2022 is happening early next month and is hosting some prominent guests in the video game industry from companies like Square Enix, Riot Games, Guerrilla Games, and more.

This year, BIG Festival 2022 is set to host 120 sessions from the best professionals from the games industry which includes more than 300 confirmed speakers from industry leaders at Square Enix, Devolver Digital, Guerrilla Games, Riot Games, Humble, ESPN Brasil, and many more. It isn’t just about the talks, the festival will also offer over 200 games for attendees to play in-person and online. That’s not all BIG Festival is also set to host a competition featuring 92 carefully selected games.

Big Festival describes itself as “a valuable space for newcomers to the industry and veterans alike” that in the past has featured lectures, awards, business meetings, and as well as the industry’s leading publishers and investors. Some of the speakers from prominent video game companies set to make an appearance are listed below:

  • Takashi Tokita – Producer at Square Enix (Live A Live, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV)
  • Lennart Franken & Tom Delboo – Guerrilla Games (Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West)
  • David Lam – Director of Art Management at Riot Games (League of Legends)
  • Sithe Ncube – Strategic Advisor at Humble Game’s Black Game Developer Fund / Associate Producer at Nyamakop

Similar to other events during the pandemic era, the BIG Festival had to shift to an online format as a precaution for safety. The move led to breaking numbers at BIG Festival 2021 which made it the most successful iteration of the annual event in the BIG Festival’s 10-year history which generated in business alone an estimate of over $65 million USD in revenue.

Last year’s event featured over 70 hours of bilingual content – in both Portuguese and English and was broadcasted live with more than 300 speakers, 545 companies across 64 countries, and over 5,000 meetings scheduled at the virtual event. Brazil is currently the largest Latin American game market (in revenue) and is the #12 overall global market.
