Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah Newest Update Delivers

First released in 2017, Conan Exiles brings the deathly and exciting world of Conan to consoles and PC in a unique survival experience.

Funcon, makers of Anarchy Online and Secret World Legends took the survival concept and brought it to life in the iconic setting. The games most recent expansion, Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah, delivered a new island and a whole range of new challenges and quests players could explore. Funcom are looking to make that experience a little more exciting with the latest 2.4 patch, and from my time with the demo, it is shaping up to bring welcome additions to the game.

The scope and scale of Conan Exiles was already daunting, giving a wide range of material for players to dive into and try. With Patch 2.4, Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah now has around 20 percent more land to explore and conquer. While I enjoy trekking through the lands fighting all the creatures that stand in my way, the demo focused on seeing all the new areas, and just from what I saw, it feels massive. While 20 percent does not sound like much, considering the scale of the world already available, this fills a players’ heart with excitement and wonder at all the new potential that sits just below the surface.

Clearly Funcom know gamers want to take in the sights as they explore the new lands, and they are introducing three new biomes to the Isle of Siptah. The Ashlands, Floodlands and Savannah deliver new options to explore and experience. They are also improving environmental lighting and visuals making exploring these new areas a little more exciting for the graphics lover in all of us. Even with the short time I had with the new settings, it feels much has improved while still maintaining the core “Conan” raw vibe the game captures perfectly.

What would new areas be without new enemies to take down and NPC’s to enrich the story? Thankfully, this is another area Funcom put time and effort. Bringing new points of interest along with new forces and groups looking to put your head on a pike, it all makes the universe feel more lived in and organic.

Though the new creatures will keep players busy, some people are gluttons for punishment, and this is where the new Black Pools come into the picture. With these, players can summon powerful creatures just to fight, with the potential to gain unique rewards for coming out victorious. We are the warriors of the Exiled Lands, so the potential for rewards and battle are music to our ears.

Possibly one of the more interesting — and more unsettling to the arachnophobes out there — is the New Faith, The cult of Zath. Worshiping at the feet of a giant spider has its drawbacks — needing to witness a rain of spiders for one — but it has some perks also. The ability to summon your spider god Zath to crush your enemies and their encampments is well worth the fear. Bringing death from above as well as acting as a pseudo ballista, this god is a frightening and exciting addition that should make siege combat a bit more interesting.

With these features and now the ability to transfer characters between areas, the Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah 2.4 patch feels almost like an expansion in itself. For players of Conan Exiles, these feels like welcome changes that will make for a fun experience when they log in. But the patch also brings many quality of life changes that will be great for new and old players alike. For anyone sitting on the fence about if Conan Exiles is worth your time, this new update makes it the barbarian survival game to beat, delivering all the giant spider, evil portal, fantasy mayhem anyone could ever want.
