Dell, one of the world’s leading and most recognisable computer hardware brands, unveiled a slew of new products, during Computex 2019, in Tapei, Taiwan.
Starting with the gaming side of things, Dell brought a duo of new Alienware laptops: the Alienware m15 and Alienware m17. The two refreshed models pack the latest and greatest in available GPU and CPU tech, jumping from the Nvidia RTX 20 line of graphics and Intel’s 8th-gen processors, which launched this January to the newer, 9th-gen Intel core and GTX 1650 graphics. The new models also boast a modern, slimline chassis, trimming as much of the excess as possible, making for an ideal travel laptop while also providing powerful hardware for those looking to game.
Dell has priced both the M15 and Alienware M17 at the starting price of $1,499 USD, with a launch date set for June 11.
Additionally, Dell unveiled a refresh for their G3 15 laptop, which hasn’t received a significant upgrade since 2018. The mid-tier G3 15 will see an increase across the board, in terms of better hardware. Boasting Intel’s 9th-gen range of CPUs, and support for Nvidia’s 1050, 1650, and 1660 Ti graphics cards, placing the G3 more in-line with other, higher-end offerings from this year. In terms of IO, the Dell G3 15 will include a USB-C DisplayPort input, meaning those wanting to expand to an external monitor or graphics, can do so with ease.
Dell’s flagship 2-in-1 XPS 13 model boasts a brand-new design, making it the first time the 2-1 series has gotten a significant overhaul since its inception in 2017. One of the more substantial changes for the latest 2-1 refresh will be a better battery-life (upwards of 16 hours), an issued that plagued the previous models.
In terms of pure performance gains, the 2019 XPS 2-in-1 will provide 2.5x the performance versus the currently available model, with support for 10th-gen intel core i3 to i7 processors. The onboard ram will also see a jump, with support for up to 32GB, from the current 16GB limit. Finally, in terms of graphics, the 2019 XPS 2-1 will ship with Intel UHD and Intel Iris Plus Graphics options, a perfect fit for most work tasks and video related operations.
The Dell XPS 2-in-1 will start at $999 USD, with no definitive release date given — however, Dell promises that it will become available soon.
Other announcements include a refresh for the Dell Precision line of workstations, ranging from light and compact portables, to higher-end workstations that support up to an Nvidia Quadro T2000 4GB graphics, which Nvidia unveiled, earlier in the week.
The Vostro line of laptops under Dell’s repertoire will see two new models hit the market, with the Vostro 13 5000 and the Vostro 15 7000. The duo of notebooks will be available starting at $849.99 USD and will feature a thinner design aesthetic with advanced video conferencing capabilities.
Dell’s popular Inspiron line saw the most growth, with several new models hitting the market. Some highlights include the Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1, the small laptop features a touchscreen display, with a 7th-gen AMD powered CPU at its heart.
Fans of All-in-Ones can choose between the 2019 Inspiron 27 7000 and the 2019 Inspiron 24 5000 AIO. Both machines feature a new bottom-mounted stand with InfinityEdge FHD displays and Dell’s Cinema audio drivers. With a starting price of $699.99 USD for the 5000 model, and $949.99 for the larger, 7000 series.
Aside from the hardware, Dell also took the opportunity to announce a home installation initiative, which Dell is calling the Dell Home Installation Service, which as the name implies, will allow consumers to receive help setting up their new or refurbished Dell laptop or PC via Dell technician. Aside from just setting up a new or refurbished product, consumers will be able to purchase add-ons, such as the migration of data from older machines, system updates and network setup. The Dell Home Installation Service is available now, in 12 countries ( Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Mexico, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the US, and New Zealand).
