Today Blizzard announced that Diablo Immortal will launch on June 2 on mobile.
Diablo Immortal will also go into Open Beta on PC, with cross-play and cross-progression between platforms. It will contain all of the game’s features, and once it’s completed, all progress will be maintained.
According to Blizard, over 30 million players have pre-registered to gain access as soon as possible to the developer and publisher’s latest rougelike. “The demons of the Burning Hells are ready to be slain in the most expansive Diablo game that has ever released,” said the president of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Ybarra, “As Blizzard’s first game designed from the ground up for mobile, it was important to us to deliver an experience worthy of the franchise, so we did a lot of testing, incorporated a lot of feedback, and created a game that we’re very excited to share with players.”
In Diablo Immortal, players will choose between six classes: Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer, or Wizard, and embark on a journey through eight zones and the city of Westmarch. They will join up with both old and new Diablo characters, including the franchise’s patriarch Deckard Cain, on a quest to hunt down the shattered pieces of the corrupted Worldstone. The game’s story takes place between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III.
Diablo Immortal features an MMOARPG social experience that’s new to the series. In it, players will share a large world with others as they explore the game’s world, the Sanctuary, and form Warbands with up to eight members to take on group challenges such as Helliquary raid bosses, and join Clans with up to 150 friends to earn Clan Achievements. The game also features a faction-based PvP system.
With the Cycle of Strife, players can join together to fight in an ongoing war in which the top player of the server the Eternal Crown to become the leader of the Immortals. This will put them in the position of always having to defend their reign across a series of modes including 1v30 showdowns.
Diablo Immortal will be free-to-play with optional in-game purchases. It will be available at launch on iOS, Andriod, and Windows PC via Battle.net. Those looking to find out more information, as well as pre-register for the game can do so here.
