Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Teases New Horrors and Heroes

A Lord's Return

An Elden Ring Shadow Of the Erdtree Gameplay Trailer Launched Today & It Brings The Demi God, Miquella

After over a year of waiting after the announcement, fans have finally been given a glimpse beyond the curtain at the new Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and it features the Queen of Rot’s brother, Miquella.

Elden Ring is an incredibly popular game. Since winning the prestigious GOTY award in 2022, FromSoftware has corrupted the fandom with a promise of a new expansion, giving Tarnished a new purpose in The Lands Between. Today, after over a year of waiting, fans have been treated to a robust gameplay trailer for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, which can be seen below.

YouTube video

The trailer opens with a familiar scene of a seasoned Tarnished, the hanging arm of Miquella in Mohgwynn Palace, outside of what appears to be an egg or embryonic sac. In traditional FromSoftware or this case, Elden Ring fashion, much of the storyline is left as a vague nudge in the direction of a narrative, that the Tarnished have to flesh out and uncover for themselves. The video’s description and a post by the official Elden Ring X (formerly Twitter) account follow this pursuit of mystery by saying “In the Land of Shadow, Miquella awaits the return of his promised Lord.”

The trailer does reveal some notable gameplay additions. In one scene, a Tarnished is shown using what appears to be a new type of ‘fist’ weapon, while in another frame, a Tarnished lets loose a torrent of crossbow bolts. New enemy types appear to litter The Lands Between, and a fearsome Revenant-looking enemy appears to be grafted to Godrick’s face in one particularly chilling moment. One thing is for certain: Tarnished looking to explore more of The Lands Between, will have a busy Summer.
