Open-world anime MMORPG Tower of Fantasy publisher Level Infinite recently revealed the release date for their next simulacrum, Rei Ayanami.
In collaboration with the critically acclaimed anime series Evangelion, Rei will be the second character from the anime to be added to the game following Asuka Langley’s banner. She will be released on March 28, 2024, in a limited-run collab banner.
Tower of Fantasy is an anime-styled open-world action MMORPG developed by Hotta Studio set on the planet of Aida after humanity escaped a world-ending event on Earth. Players can freely roam around the world of Aida, collecting treasure, fighting bosses, or even teaming up with other players to take on dungeons. Unlike most MMOs, Tower of Fantasy utilizes a Gacha model where players can collect characters by rolling for them with a chance of getting them on their banners.
Tower of Fantasy has multiple different simulacrum (characters) that follow an elemental typing system. The elements of the simulacrum are as follows: Flame, Frost, Volt, Physical and Altered. Simulacrum can also come in dual-typing, with Rei being introduced as a Frost-Volt simulacrum. In battle, Rei will wield a special bow called Salvation that shoots energy arrows at her foes. She can also summon her EVA from the anime series, EVA-00, to aid her in the battle against the Angel invasion on the Planet of Aida as part of the collaboration event with Evangelion.
The trailer was released on the official Tower of Fantasy YouTube channel, showcasing Rei’s skills and gameplay mechanics. Players will be happy to learn that the developers have faithfully incorporated Rei Ayanami’s character into the world of Aida as a callback to the original anime series.
